Maharashtra Tenpin Bowling Association was founded in 2006 as a State governing body for the sport of bowling in Maharashtra. The association is officially affiliated to the Tenpin Bowling Federation of India (TBIF) established to promote the sport of tenpin bowling in the country. They mutually function to establish standardized bowling rules while regulating fair play in leagues and tournaments.Â
MTBA performs a seminal role in training professional bowlers to represent their State and country at National and International championships. The association takes pride in functioning as a gateway for bowlers willing to compete at domestic and overseas championship by organising leagues and state level ranking tournaments for aspiring qualifiers.Â
The core foundation of MTBA lies in elevating the mass perception towards tenpin bowling as a serious professional sport. Surprisingly, many people are unaware that the sport contributes to our fitness by keeping each part of the body engaged, specifically, the sport of tenpin bowling enhances the hand eye coordination.Â
Despite several challenges such as commercialization of the activity due to expensive import of equipment and a downfall in global viewership, the sport of tenpin bowling is here to stay. Yet, India stands in isolation from the rest of the world with very less participation by Indians in professional tournaments being held at global level. This brings MTBA at the centre stage in promoting the sport among people of all age groups while effectively countering the challenges pertaining in the development of the indoor game whilst taking care of the interest of key stakeholders.Â
